February 27, 2012 - Huntington Beach, CA

Targeted Huntington Beach for potential waterspouts and funnels. Observed two funnel clouds as squall line moves ashore.

March 25, 2012 - Huntington Beach, CA

Yet another day of potential waterspout spotting, targeting Huntington Beach. Interesting structure and strong squall line observed but no funnels or spouts.

April 13, 2012 - Huntington Beach, CA

Targeted Huntington Beach as SPC issues a marginal risk for waterspouts and tornadoes along the coastal waters and adjacent coastal areas. Observed rotation and wall cloud directly over me as a severe thunderstorm develops and moves ashore.

April 25, 2012 - Huntington Beach, CA

Quick late afternoon spotting for waterspouts in Huntington Beach during a frontal passage. No spouts or funnels observed at location. Funneles were reported in Dana Pt.

May 7, 2012 - Hemet, CA

Isolated thunderstorms formed aong the San Jacinto Mtns east of Hemet in responce to a weak vort max moving through the area.

October 11, 2012 - Bonsall/Devore, CA

Strong early season low pressure system produced a squall line over coastal waters that triggered waterspouts from huntington Beach south to San Diego. Attempted an intercept of this squall line ove Bonsall east of Oceanside. The line prodcued a waterspout in Oceanside about 30 min before my intecept. Tracked it inland and continued the chase northward into the high desert and back down into the Inland Empire. Observed rotation and wall cloud over Phelan, and then a wall cloud and funnel cloud along I-15 north of Fontana at 5:20pm.

October 12, 2012 - Dana Pt, CA

Quick attempt at observing possible morning waterspouts offshore Dana Pt. No luck.

December 18, 2012 - Devore, CA

Quick chase as a dying thunderstorm over the northern Inland Empire area offered photogenic sunset scenes from Devore.

December 23, 2012 - Merced, CA

Attempted my first San Jooaquin Valley chase as a strong low pressure system moved inland across Northern California. NAM was showing a marginal parameters in the Modesto/Merced area that might offer an opportunity for some funnel clouds or a weak tornado. Good se backing winds and strong frontal boundary collided in this area around 4pm triggering a thunderstorm that showed broad rotation. My position in Livingston was perfectly executed as the rotation moved directly over me,with radar showing an impressive hook echo however no funnels or tornadoes were observed at my location. Although there was no 'trophy' bagged I felt the chase was successful nonetheless as I was able to read model forecast data and real-time data to position myself exactly where I needed to be if one were to happen.

December 26, 2012 - San Jacinto, CA

Quick chase in the San Jacinto area as scattered showers offered amazing photo opportunities around sunset. Nothing spectacular otherwise.

December 30, 2012 - Dana Pt/Lake Elsinore, CA

Strong low pressure system triggered scattered thunderstorms across Southern California. Initially targeted several storm cells moving over Corona and Lake Elsinore. Repositioned to Dana Point as waterspouts were sighted offshore earlier in the day. As that attempt busted, I encountered low elevation snow showers on my way back across Ortega Hwy.
